Members of The Southland Deaf Community all have a disability, one way or another.
We all rely on funding to support us with interpreters, GP's, and Appointments.
We also rely on having someone to take us to these appointments if we are unable to get an interpreter.
There aren't any interpreters based here in Invercargill, which makes it very difficult for the Southland Deaf Community.
It's okay to say to use Zoom or NZ Relay, but as many of our members are older, they need to be up to Modern Technology.
The cutbacks affect ourselves & whanau.
