Disabled United NZ needs a logo

Background
Because of the growing response by disabled people to the March 18 announcement, Disabled United NZ is snowballing, and that wasn't planned at all.

The Name
Using Disabled United as a name was an accident. After the gang of three meeting on March 19, I put out the first poster and had to come up with a name in 10 minutes that was not too long and that I could spell (I'm dyslexic and use a lot of assistive technology to write, plus Grammarly runs on autopilot).

So Disabled United it was.

Google Blogger is used to host the website. The next problem was that there were "Disabled United" in most countries. So, an "NZ" was tacked on so people wouldn't confuse it with "UK," "US," etc. This was for Google Search and also to help people with memory problems. It needed to be a short name anyone could spell. Google knows what NZ means. It is also the official UN 2-character code every country uses for Aotearoa-New Zealand. Postal, internet domains, banking, libraries, etc.

www.dunz.org.nz was chosen because it was very short and available. DUNZ is the name of the YouTube Channel and the mailing list.

Website
The early version of the website was established before the initial protests in Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, and Invercargill. Since then, it has become full of news about the growing wave of protests. It is a shared vehicle for all those wanting to fight the funding restrictions. All groups are welcome to use it.

Google Search
The Google Search results ranking today.

  • "Disabled United" gets 2nd, 5th listing
  • "Disabled United NZ" gets 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 7th listing

Try it yourself: www.google.com

This makes it very useful for the local groups and events listed on the website. It will help people find and join in.

DUNZ is also being used as a shorthand for Disabled United NZ. Nice and short and easy to spell.

Logo
A logo and other graphics are urgently needed to help disabled people find others to join up with.
  • DUNZ posters
  • Planned T-shirts
  • High-viz yellow safety vests
  • Badges
  • Car stickers.
  • Protest March Banners
Icon
A small 16x16 square-pixel icon is also required for
  • www.dunz.org.nz website
  • DUNZ YouTube channel
  • The Facebook Group
  • Anything else that is yet to be invented under extreme duress.
Options
Here are some options, and you might have other suggestions. Please tell us what you think using the Disabled United NZ Facebook Group or phone me on 022 600 5006.

This is designed by Sierra Crispy, who is happy to share it.

Naomi Harvey did these. Note: The wording should be "Disabled United NZ" or "Disabled United" or no wording at all, so just look at the image.
