In late March, peaceful protests by disabled people had a significant impact in Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, and Invercargill. 110 people attended in total, a great start.

There are about 100,000 officially disabled people, and 35,000 are on Individualised Funding. Disabled people are everywhere; most don't attend "network meetings" but need to become part of this fight. So how do we reach them, their families and support workers?

Disabled people have realised this is going to be a long, hard fight, so we had better get organised. Efforts are now underway in Auckland, Hamilton, Napier, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch, and Invercargill to establish local groups that can last the distance and organise public meetings, protests, media interviews, information tables, and petitions to win a majority of support so we can win.

Disabled United NZ has been set up to encourage people to come together without risking cuts to the government funding of support organisations.

The website lists all groups, events, resources, ways to get organised and media coverage. There are 100 articles so far. It is also shared on the Facebook Group. Please share any of this information anywhere you can, and make sure everything your group is doing is put on the website.
